We can remove Japanese knotweed using chemical treatments (which takes around two – three years to complete). This involves the application of a glyphosate-based spray. Meaning, treating the knotweed whilst having minimal impact on the surrounded area. We begin with five initial treatment visits, followed by two years of inspection visits to ensure the knotweed is showing no signs of regrowth.
Another option is to have an excavation completed. This process involves digging down to remove the rhizomes, as well as any contaminated soil. Depending on the specific site, we may also recommend a further chemical treatment or inspection visits. This ensures the excavation has been a success. This method is most commonly used by those who need the knotweed removed as soon as possible (e.g., if you need to start developments on the site).

Finally, if Japanese knotweed infested soil is bought onto your property, then this can cause a stand of knotweed to grow. A rhizome as small as a fingernail is all that is needed for this growth. We would recommend that you only accept soil onto your property from a reputable supplier. Therefore, ensuring the soil has been tested to the relevant British standard (BS3882:2015 for topsoil or BS8601:2013 for subsoil).
